P.O. Box 254 Enameled Objects for the HomeJudy Stone is one of a small group of people worldwide who call themselves enamelists. Enameling, the centuries-old process of fusing glass to metal with high heat, is a very difficult medium to control. It requires that the enamelist understand the intricate dance of metal, glass and heat. It demands an understanding of color used three-dimensionally. Judy Stone, whether she's creating sculptural vessels or large-scale wall pieces, is an enamel artist in complete control of her medium. News from the Enameling Studio
There has been a lot of rain and grey skies lately in the Bay Area - a hopeful indication that the drought in Stone's region of California may be lessening. It is also a good time to be busy in the studio with new vessels and a new concept: enameled copper wall pieces formed from the parts of copper vessels and dishes. These new wall reliefs have only a hint of their original shape. Stone will be showing these pieces for the first time at the Baltimore ACC show at the end of February. After last year's preoccupation with coordinating the Enamelist Society conference, which was held last August in Oakland, CA, and with recuperation from eye surgery, Stone is feeling refreshed and eager to work. Stone is planning an event for sometime this year to sell the remaining enameled light switch covers she has in stock. Contact her to find out about this event and to inquire about remaining switch cover back stock. Not to be left behind by the social networking revolution Stone invites you to: Home - About
